The Top Three Components Every Resume Must Have

After you send your resume do you wonder if it entered into a black hole? Have you sent countless of resumes with absolutely no response? Have you asked your friends and family to look at your resume? Do they know what Recruiters and Employers are looking for in a resume? Do you? Or, is it finally time for you to get help with a free consultation from a Human Resources professional who knows exactly what your resume needs. Here are the top three for starters.

1. Rich keyword content. Resumes are not viewed by humans much anymore. The larger the company the more likely they are using Applicant Tracking Systems to scan resumes for matches to their open jobs. You want to make sure your resume screams attention, LOOK AT ME! So, improve your keywords in your resume and you’ll increase the volume of your shout.

2. Bullet your accomplishments and achievements instead of listing boring job responsibilities. Simply listing your job description is not very impressive. You can start with it as a base, but once your keywords have been highlighted by the ATS, you’ll want the human to see how you are different and better than your competition. You do that by acknowledging your experiences that express your growth, strengths, and recognition.

3. Quantitative measurements. Make sure your accomplishments and achievements have quantitative measurements. This component supports and validates who you are and makes them want to contact you immediately. For example, instead of saying you met or exceeded your sales goals. You should state that you crushed your sales goals by exceeding them 15% or $300,000.00 – something like that. This type of information will definitely improve their interest in getting to know you for their job opportunity.

If you have these three key components in your resume, be ready to receive phone calls and emails asking when you are available for an interview.
